SAN ANTONIO, Texas — August 6, 2026Vidan Diagnostics today announced that its reagent application for the β-Hydroxybutyrate 21 FS Assay is now available for the Beckman Coulter DxC 500i Clinical Analyzer. The β-Hydroxybutyrate 21 FS Assay is intended for the quantitative in vitro determination of β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) in human serum and plasma on photometric systems. BHB is a critical biological marker when used in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests for the diagnosis and management of ketoacidosis and its primary causative factor, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

The Importance of Beta-Hydroxybutyrate in DKA Diagnosis

Beta-hydroxybutyrate is the predominant ketone body produced during diabetic ketoacidosis. Its relative proportion in the blood (78%) is significantly greater than the other two ketones, acetoacetate (20%) and acetone (2%), making it the most reliable indicator of DKA.
