Proficiency Testing Programs Indicate Increase in Participants of Beta-Hydroxybutyrate 21 FS Reagent

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, November 18, 2022 - Vidan Diagnostics, LLC today announced that its Beta-hydroxybutyrate 21 FS assay is preferred by hospital laboratories as an alternative to other commercially available testing methods on the market.  Since its launch in March 2019 the Beta-hydroxybutyrate 21 FS reagent continues to gain market acceptance as seen by the increase in participants of the beta-hydroxybutyrate proficiency testing program of the American Prociency Institute, (API).  

Next Generation Beta-hydroxybutyrare Assay

Beta-Hydroxybutyrate 

Beta-hydroxybutyrate is the predominate ketone body produced during Diabetic Ketoacidosis, (DKA)  It’s relative proportion in the blood, (78%) is greater than the other two ketones, acetoacetate, (20%) and acetone, (2%) and is therefore the best indicator of DKA.    DKA is a serious condition that can lead to diabetic coma or even death.
