Proficiency Testing Programs Indicate Increase in Participants of Lucidplus™ Beta-Hydroxybutyrate Assay

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 10, 2021 – Vidan Diagnostics, LLC today announced that its Lucidplus™ whole blood beta-hydroxybutyrate assay is preferred by hospital laboratories as an alternative to other commercially available testing methods on the market. Since its launch in June 2018, the Lucidplus™ β-Ketone Monitoring System continues to gain market acceptance as seen by the increase in participants of the beta-hydroxybutyrate proficiency testing program of the American Prociency Institute, (API).

The Lucidplus™ β-Ketone Monitoring System is FDA cleared for professional use and is CLIA waived. Using venous or capillary whole blood patient samples, the Lucidplus can be used to test beta-hydroxybutyrate to assist in the diagnosis of diabetic ketoacidosis, (DKA). Beta-Hydroxybutyrate

Beta-hydroxybutyrate is the predominate ketone body produced during Diabetic Ketoacidosis, (DKA) It’s relative proportion in the blood, (78%) is greater than the other two ketones, acetoacetate, (20%) and acetone, (2%) and is therefore the best indicator of DKA. DKA is a serious condition that can lead to diabetic coma or even death.
