Reagent Application for Vidan Diagnostics’ β-Hydroxybutyrate 21FS Assay is now available for
Abbott Alnity™ Clinical Chemistry System.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, May 18, 2020 – Vidan Diagnostics, LLC today announced that its β-Hydroxybutyrate 21FS Next Generation Reagent can be easily programmed to perform testing on the Abbott Alinity™ clinical chemistry system. Beta-Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is an important marker when used in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests for the diagnosis and management of ketoacidosis and its main causative factor, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Vidan Diagnostics’ β-Hydroxybutyrate 21FS Assay is a liquid stable and ready to use reagent that offers 10 weeks calibration and onboard stability when run on the Abbott Alinity™ clinical chemistry system. “Abbott Diagnostics is one of the leading manufacturers in the U.S. with placements of their Architect™ and Alinity™ systems.”, said Gilbert Mejia, CEO of Vidan Diagnostics. “In order to better serve our hospital based customers, it is imperative that we make our reagent available on the Abbott Alinity™. Beta-Hydroxybutyrate
Beta-hydroxybutyrate is the predominate ketone body produced during Diabetic Ketoacidosis, (DKA) It’s relative proportion in the blood, (78%) is greater than the other two ketones, acetoacetate, (20%) and acetone, (2%) and is therefore the best indicator of DKA. DKA is a serious condition that can lead to diabetic coma or even death.
